Tuition Refunds

To obtain a full refund (100%) you must officially cancel your course registration by December 21, 2023.  Students are responsible for cancelling their course registration if they do not plan to attend.  Do not anticipate that Rutgers University will automatically remove you from your course(s) due to non-payment or non-attendance.  Log in to WebReg to cancel your registration.  If for any reason you are unable to cancel your course registration using WebReg you will need to email the Office of the Registrar at the One Stop Portal.

To obtain a partial refund (50%) you must withdraw from your course during the Partial Refund Period, December 22 - January 2.  A "W" grade will also be applied.  Log in to WebReg to withdraw from a course.  If for any reason you are unable to withdraw using WebReg you will need to email the Office of the Registrar at the One Stop Portal.

WebReg is accessible for registration from 6:30 am until 11:59 pm, Monday through Friday and 6:30 am through 6:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday.  Please consult the Winter Session Calendar to view registration and refund deadlines.

 Financial Aid Refund

Students whose financial aid exceeds their balance due are entitled to receive a refund of the credit balance on their student account. Refund checks will not be available until after the start of the winter term. It is important to plan ahead for the purchase of books, supplies, and other expenses.

Receiving a Refund

Students have two options to receive their refund:

  • Electronic refunds: Direct deposit is the fastest, safest and most convenient way to receive your refund. It generally takes 3-5 business days to work after the initial setup. To set up or update your direct deposit click here
  • Paper checks: Paper checks will be mailed to your permanent address listed on your student account.
